The seed and the storyteller
A child asked a storyteller, “How do I keep a story forever?”
The storyteller placed a seed in the child’s palm. “You could hide this away,” she said, “and it would remain yours. Or you could plant it.”
The child planted the seed beside the village path. Seasons passed. A tree rose, its branches offering shade to travellers, its fruit carrying seeds to places the child had never seen.
Years later, beneath those branches, the child told the story to someone new.
Some things last longer when we give them away.
